I've got this idea in my head that I can't get out. Specifically, a myth about this sword. I have the concept, I have the story points, but the story itself just doesn't want to pull itself together and form an actual myth or tale. This is pretty unusual..

A bit wobbly at places, but meh, was just trying to get this out of my head.
And that's it, no story 'cause I can seem to pull my ideas together enough to actually write one xD;



[Edit]: Scratch that. Here's the long mass of text that ended up being the myth. And this is the short version.
The translation of the title would be: Anireck's Sword

Anireck was known as a great warrior and general in his land. However, his greatness was not enough to defend the people from a dark invading force. As a last hope and chance, he turned towards the gods and asked that they grant him the strenght to protect his kingdom and it's people. The gods had agreed. Anireck was given a task, to bring to the gods two swords- one from his own people and one from the enemy's. The heavenly smith then took the swords and in 10 days forged them together, creating a blade not yet seen by any mortal eye. Anireck accepted it and swore to use it justly. In less than a year the kingdom had regained all it's territories and their king had become to be known as the Emerald Wave for whenever he fought in a battle, waves of green fire flushed across the battlefield, destorying the enemy. The invaders withdrew and offered a truce. Anireck refused. He had said "It is not just that you come to kill my people and expect your own to be spared.". He led an invasion into their territory. The gods were furious. In mid-battle, 10 days after the invasion had started, Anireck's sword suddenly shattered into a dozen pieces. Left defenceless, the king was killed and the remainder of his armies retreated to their own lands, where the new king agreed to a new truce. The sword shards were taken by an unknown being and were hidden in the Underworld, where the Under God took them and with a breath upon them, reforged the blade once more. He gave the sword to a creature of the realm and told it to guard it from mankind and only use it if evil forces should ever rear their heads. But to never let the sword leave the Underworld, for if it does, the spell the god has used to reforge it would weaken and in 10 days, the sword would become pieces again. The spell not only kept it intact, but it also made it weaker when used by men, thus avoiding Anirack's greed to resurface among them again.
